An equation of state for argon

Authors: not saved
Abstract:

An analytical equation of state was applied to calculate the thermodynamic properties for argon. The equation of state is that of Song and Mason. It is based on a statistical-mechanical perturbationtheory of the hard convex bodies and can be written as fifth-order polynomial in the density. Thereexist three temperature-dependent parameters: the second virial coefficient, an effective molecularvolume, and a scaling factor for the average contact pair distribution function of hard convexbodies. We used Lennard-Jones (12-6) potential for calculation of temperature-dependentparameters. The equation of state has been applied to calculate thermodynamic properties includingthe vapor pressure curve, the compressibility factor, fugacity coefficient for argon. The agreementwith experiment is good.

An Improved ISM Equation of State for Polar Fluids

We developed an equation of state (EOS) by Ihm, Song, and Mason (ISM) for polar fluids. The model consists of four parameters, namely, the second virial coefficient, an effective van der Waals co-volume, a scaling factor, and the reduced dipole moment. The second virial coefficient is calculated from a correlation that uses the heat of vaporization, and the liquid density at the normal boiling ...

An Analytical Equation of State for Molten Polymers

An analytical equation of state (EOS) developed by Ihm-Song-Mason (ISM) has been applied tocalculate some thermophysical properties of molten polymers including Poly (1-octene) (PO), Poly (vinylmethyl ether) (PVME), Poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC), and Poly (styrene) (PS). Three temperature-dependentparameters of the ISM EOS have been determined based on the alternative scaling constants, dispersiv...

an application of fuzzy logic for car insurance underwriting

An Analytical Equation of State Extended to Copolymers

calculate some thermodynamic properties of molten polymers including specific volume and isothermal compressibility (S.M. Hoseini, Physical Chemistry & Electrochemistry, 2 (2014) 56-65). This work extended that EOS to predict the volumetric properties of some molten ethylene copolymers including ethylene/1-octene, ethylene/1-butene (xethylene equal to 0.8543 and 0.563), ethylene/propene. The ab...
